Day 1 - Natchitoches, Louisiana - Rendezvous and Orientation

Submitted by:  Pat and Skeeter Craig #1

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK’S DAY!  Welcome to the maiden voyage of Adventure Caravans Cajun Crawl.  We are Skeeter and Pat Craig and we are pleased to be your Wagonmasters .  Today we begin our journey through Louisiana.  We have all gathered in Natchitoches and we will spend the next 27 days together. Our group consists of 35 people who are traveling in 16 motorhomes, 2 trailers and 1 fifth-wheel. We have eight pets along for the trip as well; 1 cat and 7 dogs.

As with any trip, getting started is always a busy time.  We have been visiting, shopping, asking questions, answering questions, doing inspections, putting stickers on, making notes, buying supplies and in general doing everything we can think of for a safe journey.

Orientation was held this afternoon and everyone introduced themselves and we all begin to put names and faces together.  Information was shared and questions answered.  The best part of the day was our get-acquainted party held in the meeting room at Nakatosh Campground.  We served a wide variety of great snacks and beverages.

The evening before, Madi and I headed to the room to prepare for today’s activities and we were joined by four of our ladies who were eager to help.  You have never laughed until you have watched six women try to peel 48 boiled eggs who had no intention of cooperating with us. Gayle, Laura, Kay and Chris along with Madi and me did manage to get the task done but it was by far the hardest.  I must say we did serve 96 beautiful deviled egg halves at the party.

We are excited about the tour and the great group of travelers who are joining us on this trip.
