Today was a wonderful adventure in the Shreveport area. Our first stop was the Gators & Friends Alligator Park and Exotic Zoo. We enjoyed all the lazy gators and their frisky furry friends.
We had our
picture taken while holding George the junior gator.
While our
informative tour guide Jan Pellitet enthusiastically told us many interesting
stories, we traveled to the Mardi Gras Museum.
This museum is the headquarters of the Gemini Krewe. Elaborate costumes were on display as well as
their basic and fun floats.
We learned
that the Mardi Gras colors are purple, green and gold. The ladies of the museum graciously presented
each person with a beautiful Mardi Gras bead and medallion necklace.
The Louisiana
Boardwalk offered many restaurants for lunch and stores for shopping. It was a perfect day for walking and enjoying
the outdoors.
Our bus
driver Dennis expertly guided us on a comprehensive tour of historic downtown
Shreveport. We stopped for a tour of the
Scottish Rite Cathedral, drove past the sites of many movies and viewed a
number of historic buildings and mansions.
The day ended
with a Red River Boat Cruise. Captain
Sandy’s narration was colorful and entertaining. We have enjoyed our visit to this historic and beautiful part of Louisiana.
